Building Readiness, Independence, Development, and Growth
The BRIDGE Program at Southwest Christian Academy is a student support and mentoring program designed for students who need additional structure, accountability, and academic guidance in order to be successful in the classroom.
BRIDGE is built on the belief that many students do not need a separate school or specialized therapy—they need consistent support, extra time, and an adult who knows them well and walks with them through their academic journey.
Through frequent mentoring check-ins, guided academic support, and regular progress reviews, BRIDGE helps students build strong habits, confidence, and independence.
Program Purpose
The BRIDGE Program exists to:
-
Provide structured academic support
-
Offer extended time and individualized guidance
-
Help students manage assignments and workload
-
Reinforce classroom instruction
-
Support learning accommodations
-
Promote responsibility and independence
-
Strengthen communication between home and school
BRIDGE is an academic support and mentoring program and is not a diagnostic, therapeutic, or clinical service.

What BRIDGE Provides
Academic Mentoring and Check-Ins
Each student is paired with a BRIDGE mentor who meets with them through frequent check-ins to:
-
Review assignments and upcoming deadlines
-
Monitor academic progress
-
Assist with planning and prioritization
-
Address concerns early
-
Encourage self-advocacy and accountability
The mentor serves as the primary point of contact between the student, family, and school.

Ongoing Progress Monitoring
-
Students participate in regular progress reviews, including:
-
Frequent academic check-ins

Quarterly progress updates
-
Early notification of concerns
-
Clear expectations for student growth
BRIDGE works best when families, students, and staff partner together.

Who Is BRIDGE For?
BRIDGE is designed for students who:
-
Have a documented 504 Plan or Learning Support Plan (LSP), or
-
Demonstrate a need for structured academic support
-
Are capable of succeeding in a traditional classroom with guidance
Students who require specialized therapy or intensive clinical services may be better served in other educational settings.

Enrollment Process
-
Referral by parent, teacher, or administration
-
Review of academic records and documentation
-
Team meeting with family and school staff
-

-

Transition and Growth
BRIDGE is designed to be temporary whenever possible.
Students who demonstrate strong academic habits, consistency, and independence may transition out of the program with team and family approval.
Success is measured by readiness for independent learning.

Learning Plans and Accommodations
Southwest Christian Academy works closely with families to understand each student’s learning needs and existing support plans. As a private school, we are not bound by all state mandates; however, our team collaborates with parents and teachers to provide appropriate classroom accommodations and academic support within the scope of our program and resources.
Our goal is always to help each student succeed while maintaining a healthy, balanced learning environment for all students.

What BRIDGE Is Not
To ensure clarity for families, BRIDGE is not:
-
A special education program
-
A therapy or treatment program
-
A diagnostic service
-
A replacement for outside specialists
-
A guarantee of academic outcomes
BRIDGE provides support, structure, and mentoring—not specialized clinical intervention.
